Thanks everyone who commented on my ransomware post. I tried booting another OS from disc, but I couldn't get rid of the damn thing it's really embedded in there. As for those of you who said its time for them to get a new computer thanks for confirming what I thought may have to happen. I'll be forwarding the Information on to my GF and her boss. anyhow here's a .gif of what I want to do to the people who made this virus.

Run System Restore, see how far back you can go.
I used to see this fairly often. Your only chance at recovery is using Shadow Explorer. And once youve done that, full Duke Nukem reinstall.

Tried system restore the virus actually has it locked out to where it opens fast enough to see it then closes before you can do anything.

her office is getting new computers soon anyways, but her boss is slow to make the changes. Hoping to speed up the process and get them something a bit more modern. I'm pretty sure her current computer is running on less than a gig of RAM, with a 32 bit OS.

32bits OS are very fine... It's pretty much only interesting to run a 64bits OS if you have more than 4gigs of ram combined (video+system), but other than that, no one with basic use of windows will make a difference between both... XP is a great OS, Xp 64bits is a driver's mess.
Going from 32 to 64bits OS will not make anything faster :)
As for staying with an older OS that runs perfectly on a computer with less than 1gig of Ram: try windows 2000. By far the greatest OS ever created by Microsoft. Light and fast. Everything that an OS is suppsoed to be :)

I don't have anything against 32 bit OS's. I'm sure when they go through the upgrades they'll be running Window 8 or 10 if its out in time.
